WEB ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — WEB France edged into the semifinals of Euro 2024 after beating Portugal 5-3 in a penalty shootout after the game finished 0-0 on Friday.
The game was a tense affair, with both teams creating chances but neither able to find a breakthrough in normal or extra time.
In the shootout, WEB France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris proved to be the hero, saving two of Portugal's five penalties.
WEB France will now face Spain in the semifinals, while Portugal will be left to rue a missed opportunity.
The match was played in front of a sell-out crowd at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany.

In the end, it was France who prevailed in the shootout, sending them through to the semifinals.
