Nigerian Striker Scores on Debut for Turkish Giants

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen made a dream debut for Galatasaray, scoring the opening goal in a 2-1 victory over Sivasspor on Sunday. The 23-year-old joined the Turkish giants from Napoli on a season-long loan deal last week and wasted no time in making an impact.

A Bright Start for Osimhen

Osimhen was handed a starting role by Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk and repaid the faith shown in him with a clinical finish in the 15th minute. The striker latched onto a pass from Kerem Akturkoglu and fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Osimhen's goal gave Galatasaray the lead, but Sivasspor equalized through Mustapha Yatabare just before halftime. The Turkish giants regained the lead in the second half through Juan Mata, who scored a stunning free-kick.

Osimhen played 65 minutes of the match before being substituted, and his performance was praised by Buruk. "Victor is a quality player, and he showed that today," said the Galatasaray manager. "He's a great addition to our team, and I'm sure he'll score many more goals for us this season."

Osimhen's debut goal for Galatasaray was his first in competitive club football since May 2022. The striker will be hoping to continue his goalscoring form when Galatasaray face Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig next weekend.
